How OpenRate Simulates Large Orders

OpenRate simulates large orders by filling the requested amount against cleaned P2P merchant ads in price-priority order. The result estimates effective rate, slippage, merchant count, and visible liquidity. Only ads from merchants with sufficient completion rate, order history, and liquidity are included. Extreme outlier ads are excluded.

Estimate Effective Rate and Slippage

The top advertised P2P rate is only available for small orders. Larger orders must route through multiple merchants at progressively less favorable prices. OpenRate computes the blended effective rate across all filled merchants, and calculates slippage as the percentage difference from the best available rate.

Merchant Depth by Order Size

Each corridor has a limited number of clean ads available at any moment. For small orders ($100 USDT), typically one merchant can fill the entire order at the best available rate. For large orders ($25,000+ USDT), many merchants at different price levels may be required, increasing average slippage.

Execution Risk and Data Quality

P2P execution carries settlement risk not present in centralised markets. Each merchant must confirm the order, release crypto, and process the payment. Completion rate data helps estimate merchant reliability, but does not guarantee settlement. Payment method compatibility, exchange limits, and merchant availability at time of execution may all affect actual outcomes.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a P2P large order calculator?
It estimates the effective rate and slippage for larger P2P crypto trades by checking available merchant liquidity instead of only showing the top advertised price.
Why is the top P2P rate not always executable?
The best advertised rate may have limited liquidity, order limits, or merchant constraints. Larger orders often need multiple merchants at different prices.
How does OpenRate calculate slippage?
OpenRate compares the best available rate with the effective rate after simulating the order across cleaned merchant ads. Slippage is expressed as a percentage difference.
Does this guarantee execution?
No. The calculator estimates execution using visible P2P order book data. Actual settlement depends on merchant response, payment rails, limits, exchange rules, and counterparty risk.
